Crafting & Food

I have been looking at baby stuff for sale on Esty alot lately and I can totally make a bunch of that stuff... and since i've used my spendy sewing machine once, i think its time to break it back out and go for it. I'll post em as I do it! Also, i'm on a mission to get my family off crap and onto the organic healthy stuff I LOVE! Im not sure how i'm going to do it, but i'm going to make it fit in my budget!! I'll also post recipes as I find em.

For now here is a recipe for an AMAZING dip you can eat with crackers or other veggies

1 container greek yogurt
1 large cucmber chopped small
1/4 cup onion chopped small
dill and garlic (salt, fresh, or i use the juice in the pre-chopped jar) to taste

Meet Jayden

Welcoming to the world... Jayden David Olson
Jayden was born March 21, 2010. He was 7lbs 7oz, 19 3/4" long.
Here is his Birth Story...

Lets start with 2 weeks before he made his glorious arrival. I went in for my normal ob appointment and my Dr decided since I was still measuring 3 weeks ahead that getting an ultrasound was a good idea. Nothing like waiting till I was full term! Anyways... I got my ultrasound the 12th. I loved seeing my little man again and to my untrained eyes everything looked fine! As we were walking to the lobby so I could relieve my extremely full bladder (one thing I HATE about ultrasounds... its cruel!) the tech comes running out and says "Alicia, can you please have a seat the dr really needs to talk to you." Being that I didn't have an appt with my OB and now they want me to see her immediately following an ultrasound... FREAKED me out! Was this it? Was something wrong??... My dr came out and brought me to an examining room and stated that I have double the amount of amniotic fluid, which is abnormal, and that its usually caused by people with gestational diabetes. Well, if you follow my facebook you will know that I had taken the 1hr glucose once, and the 3 hour twice... all 3times proving there was NO GESTATIONAL DIABETES! She went on to say she wanted me to do it AGAIN. I stood up for myself this time and said NO! Im not taking another day off of work to sit in a lobby for 3 hrs while I do everything in my power not to throw up the sugar crap I just drank, because I couldn't take my morning sickness pill, that is causing my baby to do mega flips in my stomach making it twice as hard. The dr looked shocked and then said ok we will do a random no fasting test right now. I took the test and left the clinic.
The next day at work I had a voicemail left stating... "I got the results from your ultrasound please call me ASAP at my direct line..." what a comforting message... NOT. I was a little scared because she has never herself called me a nurse always did. I called her back and she went on to say that the tech didn't tell her how big my baby was on top of the fluid, that my glucose was NORMAL (told ya) and that I needed to get a non stress test done that afternoon to make sure the baby's heart was peaking when he moved. I called sam and had him leave work early so that he could be at the appt, I just needed some comfort. Jayden moved around in my stomach constantly my entire pregnancy, but when they hook you up to a montior he only kicked the device strapped on my stomach... the few times he moved it appeared his heart didn't peak. So my dr comes in the room and says.... i'm sending you to labor and delivery, if you need to run home and grab your stuff please do so and be there with in the hour.
As we rushed home to grab our stuff, i remember thinking IS THIS IT? REALLY LONG STORY SHORT... NOPE! Baby was perfect, got to get an another ultrasound, we went home 4 hours later.
I began to do everything I could to help start labor. I was 80% effaced and dialated to a 2. I drank castor oil twice (did NOTHING), took evening primrose oil as well inserted one DAILY, had sex, ate spicy food, bowled, walked etc. and all I got was a really sore back! It really picked up the 17th.
Well the 19th my co-worker and I decided to take our residents to the mall and walk vigorously while pushing the wheelchairs to get this baby moving. While walking, along with my back KILLING, I started getting sharp shooting pains in my lower abdomen area to my groin... we kept walking. Went home that night and I found out how to self check for dilation in a state of desperation... I couldn't do it... so... I made Sam... I was between a 2 and 3. I had to get to a 4! So, I went to the YMCA and did 54 flights of stairs! Nothing happened that night and at that point I decided i'd be preggo FOREVER!
Saturday morning I decided I wanted to go walk around Albertville mall with my mom to see if I could get my cervix to progress. While walking I started feeling like I either was dribbling in my pants or my water was leaking. All my friends and my mom kept telling me I needed to go in and get checked, but I wanted to finish shopping first. After shopping I went home and called L&D to see if they wanted me to come in. Since I had so much fluid and was Group B pos. they wanted me to come in just to check. I was frustrated... i knew it wasn't amniotic fluid...so i grabbed a few things and we went to the hospital to get it checked. They explained it was a test that took 10 mins... so I figured we would be gone in an hour. They checked me after the test came back neg and i was a 3 almost 4. They made me get up (beautiful hosp gown and grippy socks) and walk the halls of the ob dept. So I walked pretty fast for an hour and went back to my room... still expecting to go home! Well when they checked me I was just barely a 4, usually at that point they still send ppl home. I was waiting for a RN to come in and discharge me... as she came in the words "Hi im going to be your labor nurse until 11pm tonight" I was like WHAT? I'm being admitted.. she said yup you will have your baby tonight or tmrw... so at 7 pm i was admitted and the phone calls began!!
They started me on pitosin to get things moving along with my antibiotic (which is the most painful thing ever). After being checked again they said that jayden was facing the wrong way so I needed to do these exercises to get him to flip. I don't know if they have ever tried doing them with back labor, but it was the WORST part of the whole l&d! Eventually I decided to just to go to sleep at 11pm to get rest. LOL they come bug you every 30 mins, like that happend! That morning at 7 AM the OB came in and said that i was on the highest dose of pitosin for like 10 hrs and my body did nothing so I needed to walk hard for an hour to get moving otherwise I could go home. NO WAY! So I walked and walked Hard! That little walk got me to a 6.
The OB decided breaking my water wasnt a good idea d/t all my fluid keeping Jayden from being all the way down creating a chance that the umbilical cord coming out first which would create an emergency situation. So she put a pin prick in my water, weirdest feeling ever. That was a 4 PM the 21st. I guessed he would be there at 5pm and sam said 7pm. I started to feel a little bit of pain and the rn talked me into getting an epi then since he was next door. GOOD THING SHE DID because 5 mins later I was in so much pain I thought I was going to die! The anesthesiologist did his thing and I waited and waited for it to kick in, nope I still felt a ton. They kept saying you will feel pressure and I said no, this is PAIN. as they were paging him to come back I said "i know this is my first time but i think i need to push..." so my husband runs out the door to get my rn. she said i prob was just still in pain... but nope she checked me and i was at a 10 (mind you this is 30 mins after they put a tiny pin hole in my water) so i started pushing and other ppl began running into the room to help. At 5:15pm my beautiful baby was born.
Being a mom is the BEST thing ever and I wouldn't trade it for anything!
Here are some pics!
